What decides your speed
- The local network. Cities usually have strong 4G and 5G; rural areas, islands and mountains may drop to 3G or nothing.
- How busy it is. Tourist hotspots, events and evenings are slower for everyone on that cell.
- Your phone. You need a 5G phone to use 5G, and your phone’s supported bands need to match the local network’s.
- Which network you’re on. Plans often work on more than one local network; they’re listed under Coverage & networks on your plan page, and you can choose one manually if the one you’re on is slow.
Is 5G guaranteed?
No. A plan that supports 5G will use it where the local network offers it and your phone can, and fall back to 4G otherwise. You’ll see the network type in your status bar.Roughly what to expect
