Common causes
Network congestion
In busy areas — tourist hotspots, events, rush hour — the local network can get congested. Speeds typically improve during off-peak hours or when you move away from crowded areas.Limited coverage area
Rural or remote areas may only have 3G coverage, which is naturally slower than 4G or 5G. This is a limitation of the local infrastructure, not your plan.Network selection
Your phone may have automatically connected to a slower network. You can try manually selecting a different one:- iPhone: Settings > Mobile Data > tap Roamly eSIM > Network Selection > turn off Automatic and select a different carrier.
- Android: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Roamly eSIM > Network operators > select manually.
Things to try
- Toggle the eSIM off and on — This forces a fresh network connection and can sometimes land you on a faster carrier.
- Restart your phone — A restart clears any temporary network issues.
- Move to a different location — Even a few hundred metres can make a noticeable difference in signal quality.
- Switch network manually — Try connecting to a different carrier from the available networks list (see above).
- Check your data usage — If you’ve used all your high-speed data, some plans may reduce speeds. Check your usage on My eSIMs.
