Do I need to do anything?
Probably not. The vast majority of Roamly eSIM plans auto-configure the APN when you connect to a network. You should only need to check this if:- Your eSIM shows a signal but you have no internet
- You can’t load any websites or apps despite being connected
- You’ve just activated your eSIM and data isn’t working
How to check your APN settings
iPhone
- Go to Settings > Mobile Data.
- Tap on your Roamly eSIM.
- Tap Mobile Data Network.
- You’ll see the APN field at the top — check that it matches the value shown on your eSIM detail page in your Roamly account.
Android
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.
- Tap on your Roamly eSIM.
- Tap Access Point Names.
- Check that the APN value matches what’s shown on your eSIM detail page.
Note: The exact menu path may vary slightly depending on your phone manufacturer (Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc.).
Where do I find my APN?
Your APN is shown on your eSIM detail page in your Roamly account. Go to My eSIMs, tap on your eSIM, and look for the APN value under the plan details or installation section.Japan plans
If you’re using a Japan eSIM plan on an Android device, you may need to manually set the APN to:vmobile.jp
Enter this in the APN field using the steps above. iPhone users generally don’t need to do this.
Troubleshooting
If you’ve checked your APN and still can’t get data working, try these steps in order:- Toggle your eSIM off and on — Go to your SIM settings, turn off the Roamly eSIM, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Make sure data roaming is on — Your Roamly eSIM needs data roaming enabled to connect abroad.
- Restart your phone — A restart forces your phone to reconnect to the network.
- Reset network settings — As a last resort, this clears all saved network settings and forces your phone to reconfigure. On iPhone: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
