Most people don't need this. If you can scan the QR code or use one-touch setup, use those instead — they're faster and there's nothing to type. Manual setup is for situations where neither works (e.g. installing from a desktop browser onto a different phone, or a device that doesn't recognise the QR format).
Before you start — Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and that your device supports eSIM. Not sure? Check our device compatibility guide.
Two pieces of information from your eSIM detail page:
SM-DP+ Address — the server hostname your phone talks to (e.g. rsp-eu.simlessly.com)
Activation Code — a 32-character string of letters and numbers
Both are shown under Manual setup on the eSIM detail page in My eSIMs.
If your device only asks for one field, copy the LPA single-line value instead — it bundles both pieces above into one string starting with LPA:1$.
Go to My eSIMs
Log in to Roamly and tap the eSIM you want to install.
Open Manual setup
Scroll to the Install Your eSIM card and tap Manual setup to expand it. You'll see three copy buttons — pick the one matching what your device is asking for.
Open Settings
Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM (or Mobile Data > Add eSIM on older iOS versions).
Choose "Use QR Code"
On the next screen, tap Use QR Code.
Tap "Enter Details Manually"
At the bottom of the camera screen, tap Enter Details Manually.
Paste your details
iPhone will ask for two fields:
SM-DP+ Address — paste the hostname from Roamly
Activation Code — paste the 32-character code from Roamly
Leave any other fields blank.
Continue and finish setup
Tap Next, then follow the same prompts as the QR code method — choose Data Only when asked, and select your Roamly eSIM as the mobile data line.
Warning: Once an eSIM has been added to a device, it can't be transferred to another device. Make sure you're entering the details on the phone you actually want to use the eSIM on.
The exact menu path varies by manufacturer, but the steps are similar across devices.
Open SIM settings
Pixel / Stock Android: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Add eSIM
Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM Manager > Add Mobile Plan
Choose to enter details manually
Look for Don't have a QR code? or Enter activation code manually — wording varies by device. On some phones, this option only appears after you start (and cancel) the QR camera scan.
Paste your details
Most Android devices ask for a single activation code field. Paste the LPA single-line value from Roamly here — it includes both the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code in one string.
A few devices ask for both pieces separately, in which case use the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code fields instead.
Confirm and download
Your phone will download the eSIM profile from Roamly's provider. Once installed, label it something memorable like "Roamly Travel" so you can find it later.
Note: Manual entry on Android only works if your device is carrier-unlocked. If your phone is locked to a carrier, the option won't appear.
Don't activate yet — Keep the eSIM toggled off until you arrive at your destination. Most plans start their validity when you first connect to a network abroad.
Mobile data switching (iPhone) — Keep Allow Mobile Data Switching turned off so your phone doesn't fall back to your home line and trigger roaming charges.
