What's new

• A new Help me choose button on every country's plan page — opens a calculator tailored to that destination.

• Six activity sliders for the things travellers actually do online: social media, video streaming, video calls, music & podcasts, messaging & email, and maps & browsing. Drag each to the number of hours you'll spend per day.

• A trip-length input so we know whether you're going for a weekend or a month.

• Live estimates of your per-day and total trip data usage that update as you drag.

• A recommended plan that automatically updates — the cheapest plan in our inventory that covers your usage, with a validity that matches your trip dates.

• A graceful fallback for heavy users: if no single plan covers your trip, we'll surface our largest matching option with a clear note that you may want to top up.

Why it matters

Most travellers either under-buy and run out, or over-buy and waste money. The reason isn't carelessness — it's that nobody really knows what "10GB" means in practice. (Spoiler: it depends on whether you're streaming Netflix on the train or staying offline at the beach.) Help me choose flips that around: you tell us how you actually use your phone, we tell you the plan that fits.

One small thing worth knowing: most hotels, cafés, and restaurants have Wi-Fi — only count time you'll actually be on mobile data. The tool's a guide for the times you'll be on the go.
