# My eSIM says "No Service" and I haven't left yet

> That's expected. Your eSIM only finds a network in the countries your plan covers. Leave it off until you land.

If you've installed your eSIM at home and it shows **No Service**, **Searching…** or no bars, nothing is wrong. Your Roamly eSIM only connects to networks in the countries your plan covers, so in Australia (or anywhere outside those countries) it has nothing to connect to.

## What to do

Nothing. Leave the Roamly line switched off until you land:

* **iPhone:** Settings → Mobile → your Roamly line → **Turn on this Line** off.
* **Android:** Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → your Roamly SIM → **Use this SIM** off. (Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager.)

Keeping it off also stops your phone trying to use it for data at home, which can leave you with a phone that seems to have no internet.

## Is my plan still ticking?

No. For most plans the days only start counting when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination. Your plan page shows **Activate by** — the date you need to have switched it on by — and whether your plan **Starts on first connection** or **Starts on installation**. See [When to buy, install and switch on](/getting-started/when-to-buy-install-and-switch-on).

## Want to check it's installed properly?

Look in your phone's SIM settings (the paths above). If the Roamly line is listed, it's installed. Your plan in the app or at [onroamly.com/my-esims](https://onroamly.com/my-esims) also shows **Installed** once your phone has downloaded it.

## Already at your destination?

Then No Service does need fixing. See [My eSIM shows "No Service" at my destination](/troubleshooting/at-your-destination/no-service).
