# I deleted my eSIM, or installed it on the wrong phone

> Deleted it from the phone you installed on? Re-add it from your plan page. Wrong phone? Message us before you travel.

An eSIM belongs to the first phone it's installed on. What you can do next depends on which of these happened.

## I deleted the eSIM from my phone

You can re-add it, as long as it's the **same phone** it was installed on.

* **Website:** open the eSIM at [onroamly.com/my-esims](https://onroamly.com/my-esims), scroll to **Installation details** and use the install buttons or QR code there.
* **App:** open the plan, go to **More → Technical → Manual activation** and use the code with [manual setup](/installing/iphone/qr-code-or-manual) (Android: [here](/installing/android/qr-code-or-manual)).

  Deleting the eSIM from your phone doesn't cancel the plan or pause it. If the plan had already started, the days kept counting while it was off the phone.

## I installed it on the wrong phone

The eSIM can't be moved to another phone: it's tied to the hardware of the phone that installed it. Your options:

* **Use it on that phone.** If the phone is coming on the trip, that's the simplest answer.
* **Get in touch before you travel.** If the eSIM hasn't been switched on yet, [contact us](https://onroamly.com/contact) with your order number and we'll see what we can do. We can't promise a replacement, because the eSIM has already been delivered to a device, but the sooner you tell us the better the odds. Our [refund policy](/payments/refunds) has the details.

## I got a new phone mid-trip

Same rule: the eSIM stays with the old phone. You'll need a new plan for the new phone. If you can, buy it while you still have Wi-Fi, since installing needs an internet connection. See [Can I use my eSIM on more than one device?](/managing/multiple-devices)

## How to avoid it next time

Install on the phone you'll travel with, and if you're installing for someone else, make sure it's *their* phone that scans the QR code. The [four quick checks](/installing/before-you-install) cover it.
