# Just landed and no data? Start here

> Haven't got online yet? Six settings in order: line on, data line, roaming, airplane mode, restart, pick a network.

This is for the moment you've landed, you've done the switch-on steps in [Just landed? How to activate your eSIM](/installing/when-you-land), and the eSIM still hasn't connected. Work through the steps in order; most people are online by step three. If your eSIM *was* working and then stopped, use [My data stopped working mid-trip](/troubleshooting/at-your-destination/stopped-working) instead.

<Tip>
  The app shows these same steps on your plan page, and they work offline.
</Tip>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Turn the Roamly line on">
    * **iPhone:** Settings → Mobile (older iPhones say *Mobile Service* or *Mobile Data*; some regions say *Cellular*) → tap your Roamly line → **Turn on this Line**.
    * **Android:** Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tap your Roamly SIM → **Use this SIM**. (Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager.)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Roamly for mobile data">
    Your phone needs to be told which SIM to use for internet.

    * **iPhone:** Mobile → **Mobile Data** (the top row) → choose your Roamly line.
    * **Android:** on the SIMs screen, tap **Mobile data** and choose Roamly.

    Only data switches over. If your normal SIM is still on, calls and texts stay with it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on Data Roaming for the Roamly line">
    This is the step people skip, because roaming sounds expensive. It isn't here: your plan price is all you pay, and this switch just lets your phone use the local network.

    * **iPhone:** Mobile → your Roamly line → **Data Roaming** on.
    * **Android:** SIMs → your Roamly SIM → **Roaming** on. (Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming.)

    Only turn it on for the Roamly line. Leave your home SIM's roaming off so your home carrier can't charge you. More in [Data roaming: why it must be on](/troubleshooting/settings/data-roaming).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Flick Airplane Mode on and off">
    Turn Airplane Mode on, wait ten seconds, turn it off. This makes the phone search for the local network again. Give it up to a minute.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restart the phone">
    If Airplane Mode didn't do it, a full restart usually does.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a network by hand">
    Sometimes the phone latches onto a network your plan doesn't work with. Your plan page lists the networks that do work, under **Coverage & networks**. Choose one of them manually: see [Choose a network manually](/troubleshooting/settings/choose-a-network-manually). Then flick Airplane Mode once more.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Connected but nothing loads?

If you have signal bars on the Roamly line but pages won't open, check the [APN settings](/troubleshooting/settings/apn-settings), then confirm the plan hasn't run out of data or days on your plan page.

## Still offline?

[Contact us](https://onroamly.com/contact) and, to speed things up, send:

* your phone model and the country you're in,
* a screenshot of your SIM settings showing both lines,
* a screenshot of the Roamly line's settings (so we can see Data Roaming and network selection),
* a screenshot of your status bar.

If you can't get online at all, hotel or café Wi-Fi is enough to message us.
