# Promo codes, referral codes and Roam Coins at checkout

> One code per order, Roam Coins on top. Where the field is, and why a code might not apply.

There are three ways to pay less at checkout, and they combine in one specific way: one code per order, plus as many Roam Coins as you like.

## Promo codes

A code from a Roamly promotion. On the checkout page, tap **Have a promo code?**, enter it and tap **Apply**. The discount shows in the total before you pay.

## Referral codes

A friend's code goes in the same promo code field, on your first order only. If your friend sent you a link and you signed up through it, the discount applies by itself and you don't need to type anything. See [Got a referral code? How to use it](/rewards/use-a-referral-code).

## Roam Coins

Your Rewards balance. Tap **Roam Coins** at checkout to apply it. Coins can be used together with a promo or referral code, and if they cover the whole order you pay nothing. Otherwise at least \$0.50 stays on your card. See [Earn and spend Roam Coins](/rewards/roam-coins).

## Why didn't my code apply?

* **It's a referral code and this isn't your first order.** Referral discounts are first-order only.
* **You already entered another code.** One per order; the last one you apply wins.
* **It's expired, or for something else.** Promo codes have end dates, and some are for specific destinations or plans.
* **A typo.** Codes aren't case-sensitive, but every character counts.
