# Tracking links and promo codes

> The two ways a sale is credited to you, and when to use each.

A sale can be credited to you in two ways: someone buys after clicking one of your **tracking links**, or they type your **promo code** at checkout. Both show on your **Links** page and in your reports.

| | Tracking link | Promo code |
| - | - | - |
| Looks like | `onroamly.com/p/YOURCODE` | `YOURCODE`, typed at checkout |
| Who makes it | You (from the **Links** page) or us | Us |
| Gives the customer a discount | No | Yes |
| Counts clicks | Yes | No, it's typed rather than clicked |
| Works on the website | Yes | Yes |
| Works in the Roamly app | No | Yes |

## Tracking links

Share them anywhere: a video description, a newsletter, a pinned comment, a button on your site. When someone opens one, we remember your code in their browser for 30 days, so they don't have to buy straight away. See [How sales are credited to you](/partners/reporting/how-sales-are-credited).

You can [create your own](/partners/links/create-a-tracking-link), and [point them at a destination](/partners/links/link-to-a-destination) such as Japan or Europe.

## Promo codes

A promo code gives your audience a discount, and any order that uses it is credited to you, whether they buy on the website or in the Roamly app. Promo codes show on the **Links** page with a **Promo code** badge.

We set promo codes up for you, because the discount is agreed with Roamly. To get one or change one, email [hello@onroamly.com](mailto:hello@onroamly.com).

<Tip>
  If a lot of your audience buys on their phone, a promo code is the surest way to get the credit. The Roamly app can't see link clicks, but it does take promo codes.
