# What happens when my data runs out?

> Your connection stops, with no slow-down and nothing extra charged. Top up if your plan allows it, or buy a new plan.

Roamly plans are prepaid, so when the data's gone the eSIM simply stops passing data. There's no slower speed, no overage charge, and no bill waiting at home. Your plan page shows **Depleted**.

## Your options

* **Top up**, if your plan supports it. The data goes onto the eSIM you already have, with nothing to install. See [Top up your eSIM](/managing/top-up).
* **Buy a new plan** for the same destination if yours can't be topped up. You'll need to install it, so do it on Wi-Fi.
* **Use Wi-Fi** at your hotel or a café in the meantime. It's enough to top up, buy a plan, or message us.

## Will anything else stop working?

Only data on the Roamly line. Your normal SIM is unaffected. Apps that need internet (maps, messaging, ride-share) will wait until you're back online.

## Can I see it coming?

Yes. Your plan page shows data remaining, your average per day and a forecast of when you'll run out. See [Check your data usage](/managing/data-usage).
